Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
As a Laboratory Science Specialist, you will:
  • Conduct a range of laboratory procedures, ensuring accuracy in pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic processes on biological samples.
  • Perform both basic and advanced laboratory tasks, including specimen collection, processing, quality control, and various testing methods as defined by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
  • If assigned to the Transfusion Service, manage blood inventory, prepare blood products, and oversee the issuance of blood for transfusions.
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations to maintain patient confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of safety and reliability in testing.

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field.

Licensure:
Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license.

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Proven expertise in routine specimen collection, preparation, and testing within various clinical specialties, including Chemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Services.
  • Ability to perform duties with precision and reliability, demonstrating sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse patient population.
  • Capability to manage workflow efficiently, addressing fluctuations in volume and unexpected challenges.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and procedures to ensure patient safety and privacy.

Work Schedule:
Evening shifts, full-time position with variable days of the week.
