Job Overview

Position Summary

The Special Education Case Coordinator plays a crucial role in providing tailored educational support to students with special needs. This position involves collaboration with educators and families to ensure that students receive the appropriate resources and guidance necessary for their academic success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized educational instruction aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and monitor student progress in both pullout and inclusion settings.
  • Engage in the planning and execution of general education tasks and assignments.
  • Instruct a designated support class or similar educational setting as required.
  • Design and implement transition services for students aged 13.5 years and older.
  • Assist in the administration of annual academic assessments related to IEPs.
  • Contribute to the development and scheduling of IEP meetings and participate actively in these conferences.
  • Maintain accurate records and generate reports documenting student progress towards IEP objectives.
  • Prepare quarterly progress reports for students.

Professional Development Initiatives

  • Collaborate with fellow faculty members to identify professional development needs within the special education team.
  • Support the creation and facilitation of professional development workshops aimed at enhancing faculty skills.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in special education teaching, preferably in middle or high school settings within urban public schools, demonstrating a strong record of student achievement.
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • A concentration or advanced degree in a relevant area is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish and a commitment to diversity are highly encouraged.
  • A strong dedication to the educational mission of the institution is essential.

Position Details

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Salary: $55.00 per hour
  • Expected hours: 37.5 – 40 hours per week
  • Schedule: Day shift, Monday to Friday
