About the Role

Nemours Children's Health is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Age-Specific Care: Deliver culturally competent and ethical care to patients of all ages, adhering to legal standards of practice.
  • Assess Patient Status: Evaluate patients' immediate pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-operative status, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Develop Individualized Plans: Create personalized perioperative patient plans of care, taking into account patients' unique needs and circumstances.
  • Protect Patients from Harm: Safeguard patients from injury caused by extraneous objects, chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical, and thermal sources.
  • Account for Retained Surgical Items: Perform accounting procedures to prevent unintended retained surgical items, in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Correct Site, Side, and Level: Verify that surgical procedures are performed on the correct site, side, and level, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Manage Patient Specimens: Handle patient specimens in accordance with organizational policy and procedures.
  • Communicate Patient Status: Effectively communicate patients' status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care.
  • Administer Medications Safely: Provide and administer medications safely and correctly, adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain Wound and Tissue Perfusion: Perform interventions to maintain patients' wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels.
  • Prevent Surgical Site Infections: Implement interventions to protect patients from surgical site infections.
  • Evaluate Patient Progress: Assess patients' progress toward attaining outcomes, ensuring effective care and treatment.
Requirements
  • Minimum of One Year Experience: Possess a minimum of one year of experience in a related field.
  • ASN Required, BSN Preferred: Hold an Associate's degree in Nursing (ASN) or a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN), with a preference for BSN.
  • DE RN License: Possess an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Delaware.
  • PA RN License: Obtain a Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Pennsylvania within six months of hire.
  • NJ RN Licensure: Obtain a Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Jersey within one year of hire.
  • PA Clearances: Obtain Pennsylvania clearances, including an FBI Fingerprint Report, Pennsylvania Criminal Background Record, and Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance.
  • American Heart Association BLS: Possess American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
  • American Heart Association PALS: Obtain American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months of hire.
  • American Heart Association ACLS: Obtain American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire.
  • CNOR; CPN Preferred: Possess Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) or Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) certification, if applicable.
