Railcar Repair Mechanic Job Description

At Northern Plains Rail Services, we are seeking a skilled Railcar Repair Mechanic to join our team. As a Railcar Repair Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on railcars to ensure they are safe and operational.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on railcars, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting equipment.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn-out parts, including brake assemblies, couplers, and other critical components.
  • Use welding equipment to repair and fabricate metal parts.
  • Work with other team members to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience in railcar maintenance or repair.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Knowledge of welding and metal fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials.
Working Conditions:

The Railcar Repair Mechanic will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, and other hazardous materials. The position requires the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, as well as the ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials.
