POSITION OVERVIEW:
- Facilitate the admission process, which includes interviewing, evaluating, and completing necessary documentation.
- Evaluate resident requirements, create, and execute personalized care plans for each individual, adjusting as needed based on ongoing assessments.
- Collaborate with physicians to obtain orders for resident care, delegating tasks to nursing staff as appropriate while ensuring supervision.
- Establish a positive and supportive environment within the nursing unit.
- Be prepared to engage in direct patient care as necessary.
- Administer medications and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.
- Supervise nursing services in accordance with state laws and organizational policies.
- Oversee medication procurement from contracted pharmacies, delegating as needed under supervision.
- Ensure that treatments are carried out by nursing staff as scheduled and document as required.
- Monitor and document skin conditions and other health concerns regularly.
- Provide CPR and emergency care when necessary.
- Address employee performance issues promptly, documenting actions taken, including counseling and disciplinary measures.
- Contribute ideas for enhancing patient care and workplace conditions.
- Document and report any concerns to the Director of Nursing.
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
- Ensure timely completion of laboratory tests and consultations.
- Utilize Point Click Care software effectively, conducting audits and training staff in its use.
- Supervise resident care staff, recommending disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Participate in performance evaluations for care staff in line with company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of staff performance issues.
- Mentor and coach staff to promote high-quality care.
- Assist in the development and updating of job descriptions and employee records.
- Lead training initiatives for resident care staff on approved care protocols.
- Coordinate resident services with other healthcare professionals as directed by care plans.
- Implement and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
- Manage medical supply inventory and billing for personal items.
- Conduct and document assessments of residents as required.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding resident status and care updates.
- Oversee medication administration and documentation for each resident.
- Train staff on emergency protocols for various situations.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and respond to on-call duties as necessary.
- Collaborate effectively with residents, families, and all staff members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
- Be available for on-call responsibilities as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience working with geriatric and dementia patients is essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Exhibit a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
- Genuine compassion for geriatric residents and their well-being.
- Ability to delegate, supervise, and follow orders effectively.
- Collaborative spirit with nursing staff and other departments.
- Respectful and kind interactions with patients, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a neat appearance and adhere to dress code standards.
- Familiarity with community policies and procedures is necessary.
- Participation in ongoing training and staff meetings is required.
