Position Overview

The MRI Imaging Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality healthcare services by utilizing advanced magnetic resonance imaging technology to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment.

This role involves performing MRI procedures, managing computer processing, and employing related techniques to generate diagnostic images for evaluation by licensed medical professionals.

Key Responsibilities

1. **Patient Assessment**: Review and confirm the patient's clinical history, ensuring all necessary information is documented and accessible to the healthcare provider.

2. **Preparation and Support**: Conduct proper patient identification and order verification. Prepare patients for imaging procedures by providing clear instructions to achieve optimal results and alleviate anxiety.

3. **Equipment Operation**: Select and operate MRI systems, surface coils, and associated devices to obtain the best possible imaging results. Position patients and equipment effectively while considering patient comfort and safety.

4. **Contrast Administration**: Prepare and administer contrast media as directed by a licensed practitioner.

5. **Image Evaluation**: Assess images and data for technical quality, adjust display parameters, and ensure images are correctly stored in the picture archiving and communication system (PACS) for permanent records.

6. **Maintenance and Communication**: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, promptly reporting any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

- Required: Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree.
- Certification: Must possess one of the following upon hire:
- CRT-Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (MRI) - ARRT
- CRT-American Registry Of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (MRI) - ARMRIT
- CRT-Radiation Therapist - ARRT
- CRT-Radiographer (R) - ARRT
- CRT-Sonographer (S) - ARRT
- CRT-Sonographer (S) - ARDMS
- CRT-Nuclear Medicine Technologist - NMTCB
- CRT-Nuc Med Technologist (N) - ARRT
- CRT-Vascular Technologist (VT) - ARDMS
- CRT-Musculoskeletal (MSK) - ARDMS
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs on occasion.
- Frequent hand dexterity and visual acuity are necessary for effective performance.
