The PRN Commit program is a staffing plan designed to address seasonal surges in patient volumes. As a Pediatric Emergency Department Registered Nurse, you will be expected to commit to a 16-week assignment, with opportunities to extend based on patient volumes and staffing needs.

This is an as-needed position, requiring you to be available for 2-3 shifts per week to ensure optimal coverage during peak periods. A completion payout is available at the end of each 16-week assignment block.

As a Pediatric Emergency Department Registered Nurse, you will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care, meeting the unique needs of each patient and family.

Responsibilities:
  • Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate patient care, utilizing clinical judgment and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Ensure patient care meets safety, effectiveness, patient rights, and guest relations standards.
  • Oversee care delivered by the patient care team, coordinating the plan of care.
  • Provide education and facilitate learning for patients, families, and the patient care team, demonstrating sensitivity to diversity.
  • Collaborate with physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement an appropriate plan of care.
  • Advocate for patients, representing their concerns and identifying and resolving ethical and clinical concerns.
  • Accurately document all patient encounters in EPIC, protecting and securing Patient Health Information (PHI) at all times.
  • Adhere to infection prevention initiatives, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Deliver competent and skilled care to patients and families, prioritizing their identified needs.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team, emphasizing good customer relations, sound clinical judgment, and appropriate decision-making abilities.
  • Maintain a body of knowledge and tools to manage environmental and system resources for patients and families, within or across healthcare and non-healthcare systems.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • At least 2 years of Pediatric Emergency Room RN experience required.
EDUCATION:
  • BSN - required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas required.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course requirements required.
  • PALS/NRP/ACLS.
  • Effective April 20, 2020, new employees must obtain PACES certification within 6 months of hire and existing employees must obtain PACES certification upon expiration of their PEARS certification.
  • In some service areas, Initial Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviors (PPMAB) training must be renewed annually.
