About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Officer to join our team at Disability Solutions. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for safely transporting detainees between destinations while ensuring the vehicles used for transportation activities are properly maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist management in resolving unique or unexpected problems that may arise during transportation activities.
  • Review vehicle inspection reports and develop summaries for transportation management.
  • Ensure all permits and licenses for assigned vehicles are up to date.
  • Verify that vehicles have necessary safety equipment before initiating a trip and notify transportation management of any issues.
  • Properly track DOT HOS on Electronic Logging Devices.
  • Participate in interviewing and screening of applicant Transport Officers.
  • Review all necessary paperwork and ensure reports are submitted to transportation management according to established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all transportation missions meet or exceed PBNDS/FBNDS safety measures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Two years of driving experience in a transportation capacity.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a Law Enforcement Officer with Arrest Authority or a minimum of three years of Prisoner Handling and detention experience as a Corrections, Detention, or Military Police Officer.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Must have completed an approved training program resulting in a certification of satisfactory completion in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
  • A current driver's license with no preventable accidents, suspensions for driving convictions, or more than two moving violations on any type of vehicle for the past three years.
  • Passing a company and Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol test.
  • Ability to work overtime frequently.
  • Ability to travel extended periods of time with frequent overnight stays.
  • Ability to handle physical and mental stress associated with working extended hours.
  • Must be able to regularly report to work without being late.
  • Ability to be physically alert on any shift assigned.
  • Ability to work up to 16 hours within a rolling 24-hour period.
  • Must be mature, flexible, and able to command the respect and confidence of inmates or detainees and staff.
  • Ability to pass a Company and Federal Client background investigation.
  • Willing and able to travel for extended periods of time on short notice.
  • Ability to work with computers and necessary software typically used by the department.
Working Conditions
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 60 lbs (sometimes more).
  • Reach above shoulder level.
  • Work with machinery.
  • Bend, stoop, climb, walk, stand, sit, and work in extreme temperatures.
