Cleburne ISD is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive health services to students, promoting health education and preventive health practices, and collaborating with school staff and parents to ensure the well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Implement a comprehensive program of health services for the campus, including providing direct care to students, serving as a health advocate, and notifying parents of accidents or illnesses.
- Coordinate the management system for administering medications to students at school, in accordance with district policy and procedures.
- Establish and implement effective procedures for mandatory screening programs, make referrals as necessary, and develop and coordinate continuing evaluation of the campus health program.
- Participate in the development of campus health education curriculum and provide health education to individuals and groups.
- Serve as a health liaison between the school, physicians, parents, and community, assess student problems, and make appropriate referrals.
- Collaborate with other professionals regarding the implementation of health-related Individual Education Plan (IEP) items and participate in assessment and reporting of suspected child abuse.
- Communicate regularly with the principal, health services coordinator, school counselor, teachers, parents, food services, and other staff regarding health services issues.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
- Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Certified by the Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening.
- CPR Certification.
- Two years of nursing experience, preferably in community health.
The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining emotional control under stress, and will be exposed to bacteria and communicable diseases.
