Position Overview:
The Cardiac Imaging Specialist is responsible for executing and processing echocardiograms as requested by physicians. This role involves setting up and operating various diagnostic procedures in accordance with physician directives and established departmental protocols. The scope of practice includes, but is not limited to, performing 12 lead EKGs, rhythm strips, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, cardiac stress tests, and transient arrhythmia monitoring. Additionally, the specialist is tasked with maintaining departmental equipment, conducting routine preventative maintenance, adhering to infection control standards, and performing clerical duties such as record management and supply monitoring. This position also includes the responsibility for patient transportation to and from testing areas.

Job Description:

EDUCATION

  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of the required educational qualifications.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
  • Completion of an AMA accredited Echocardiography training program.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
  • ARDMS - American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer preferred.
  • RCS - Registered Cardiac Sonographer preferred.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
  • Prior experience as a Cardiac Imaging Specialist in an acute care setting is preferred.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Proficient in performing cardiac diagnostic tests and procedures as outlined in the position description.

Must possess a foundational understanding of diagnostic tests.

Ability to effectively utilize and troubleshoot various equipment essential for job performance.

Capable of assessing, evaluating, and responding to patients considering age or other functional limitations.

Demonstrates the ability and confidence to work independently and serve as a resource for the department.
