Job Summary

Eversource Energy's Transmission System Planning group is a dynamic and collaborative team of engineers responsible for planning an efficient and reliable electrical transmission grid across the New England states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.

The team uses the latest industry software and methods to analyze and assess complex transmission systems across Eversource Energy's transmission and sub-transmission networks.

Eversource encourages innovation and process improvements, striving to increase the precision and efficiency of studies.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate, perform, and lead reliability and/or economic driven studies including voltage, thermal, transfer limit, short circuit, and stability assessments.
  • Analyze and assess complex transmission systems at numerous voltage levels.
  • Document and communicate results and recommendations as appropriate, including data manipulation, report writing, and summary presentations.
  • Continually strive to innovate and integrate improvements to increase the precision and efficiency of transmission planning.
  • Represent Eversource, collaborate, and interact with internal teams and industry peers on regional activities.
  • Develop and apply a thorough understanding of various planning criteria, guidelines, standards, and analysis software packages.
  • Employ teamwork with engineers in System Planning, Transmission Asset Strategy, and engineers and operating personnel elsewhere in Electric Operations.
  • Train junior staff in technical analyses and procedures.
Requirements
  • BSEE required, with additional consideration given to applicants with Advanced Degrees or Certifications.
  • At least 5 years of related experience is required, with power industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Desired technical skills include T&D Power Systems Engineering, Power System Studies, Software Proficiency - Power System Analytics, and Knowledge of Regional/Local Criteria & Compliance.
  • Professional Engineer's License preferred.
