Job Summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist to join our team in the Department of Pharmaceutical Care. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in providing pharmaceutical care to patients seen in our Ambulatory Care Pharmacies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide therapeutic drug monitoring and take-home prescription orders
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including evaluation of medications and medical history
  • Evaluate prescription orders for appropriateness, including indication, dose, route of administration, drug interactions, and potential side effects
  • Communicate with prescribers about patient medication needs and provide education on proper medication use
  • Participate in the Drug Use Evaluation Program and Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting Program
  • Assist with patient education classes and provide medication counseling
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
  • Participate in research activities, including providing support for Investigational Drug Service prescriptions and orders
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • One year of applicable pharmacy experience preferred
  • Current licensure by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners required upon hire
  • Immunization Certification and Basic Life Support Certification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 Residency
  • Health system pharmacy experience
  • Specialty Pharmacy experience
  • Clinic order experience
  • Non-sterile compounding experience
