About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer I to join our team at Kohler Co. This is a critical role that requires a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our personnel, customers, visitors, and assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Protection and Safeguarding: Responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of personnel, customers, visitors, and assets.
  • Access Control: Responsible for monitoring and authorizing entrance and departure of associates, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of the premises.
  • Visitor Management: Responsible for greeting visitors in person in order to provide assistance or refer to an appropriate company representative.
  • Communication: Responsible for operating a multi-channel radio with multiple frequencies and accurately understanding various transmissions, (e.g. telephone, radio, etc.) and transcribing information (e.g. numbers, letters, names and facts) from one source to another in a timely manner.
  • Crime Prevention: Responsible for deterring crime by providing a general security presence.
  • System Knowledge: Responsible for developing an operating knowledge of Kohler security and fire systems and able to respond appropriately.
  • Special Assignments: Responsible for assisting with special assignments during periods of emergency or as requested by management.
  • Transportation: Responsible for providing transportation services with company vehicles as needed.
  • Certifications: Responsible for achieving and maintaining required certification in CPR, First Aid, fire extinguisher, etc.
  • Resource and Support: Act as a security and safety resource to other departments and local emergency services as dictated.
Requirements
  • Education: High School education: two-year college degree preferred (Police Science, Criminal Justice, Police Administration or Liberal Arts).
  • Experience: Law enforcement, industrial security, or Military Police experience preferred.
  • Licenses: Valid Wisconsin drivers license.
Skills and Competencies
  • Communication: Communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Reporting: Submit reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, accidents, presence of unauthorized persons, suspicious activities, or unusual occurrences to Corporate Security Supervision daily.
  • Relationship Building: Establish, develop, and maintain courteous and effective working relationships.
  • Emotional Control: Maintain emotional control and work effectively during emergencies, crisis situations, or extremely stressful conditions.
  • Clear Speech: Consistently speak in a clear, well-modulated voice.
  • Information Retention: Memorize, retain, and accurately recall information.
  • Multi-Tasking: Multi-task, organize, prioritize, adapt to constantly changing situations, and effectively take appropriate action.
  • Professionalism: Represent Kohler Co. and Corporate Security in a professional and respectful manner to all guests and associates during daily activities.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexibility: Work holidays, weekends, irregular hours or extended shifts with short notice.
  • Initiative: Demonstrate initiative by patrolling facilities as time permits.
  • Teamwork: Assist others with or without receiving prior direction to do so.
  • Problem-Solving: Evaluate situations and volunteer possible solutions and implications of any actions taken.
  • Customer Service: Act as the Company telephone operator after normal business hours.
  • Knowledge of Property: Obtain working knowledge of the property and visitor management program.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate security equipment in a safe and respectful manner at all times.
  • Alertness: Be alert/focused at all times, and be safety conscious.
