Position OverviewThe Automotive Quality Engineer (AQE) will be responsible for executing automotive-focused processes and best practices, identifying discrepancies with internal and external quality benchmarks, and addressing these discrepancies in partnership with Operations and Process, Product, and Quality Engineering teams at Skyworks. This role will directly support the wafer fabrication operations that manufacture Compound Semiconductor RF and mobile communication devices, including HBT, BiFET, and BiHEMT technologies. Additionally, this position will collaborate with counterparts in other facilities to align business processes, ensure compliance with automotive standards, and implement customer-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure adherence to internal and external automotive flow requirements.
- Contribute to the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) business process.
- Facilitate the resolution of quality issues for automotive products using effective problem-solving methodologies, including 8D.
- Assist in responding to customer automotive surveys.
- Maintain and manage Process flow, PFMEA, and Production control plan linkages utilizing commercial software/systems.
- Coordinate the Automotive Clean Launch Program.
- Participate actively in the Problem Lot Disposition (PLD) team and Technical Review Board (TRB).
- Conduct VDA6.3 process audits of internal manufacturing processes.
- Support automotive customer audits.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or physical sciences, with a minimum of 8 years of experience for a Bachelor's or 5 years for a Master's.
- Familiarity with ISO9001, IATF16949, and VDA6.3 standards.
- Understanding of SPC, MSA, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, and 8D problem-solving methodologies.
- Previous experience in semiconductor fabrication, automotive, or similar manufacturing environments.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a results-oriented and goal-driven mindset.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 10 to 20% of the time).
- ASQ certified Quality Engineer or ASQ Six Sigma green or black belt certifications are preferred.
