About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations & Maintenance Technician II - Mechanical to join our team at Onward Energy. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our power plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Monitoring and Control: Use computers and monitoring equipment to measure, record, and make adjustments within operating parameters.
  • Plant Maintenance: Perform overhaul maintenance and system improvement tasks, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and plant procedures.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare, maintain, and provide various reports and documents as required or upon request.
  • Safety and Environmental Procedures: Ensure strict adherence to all safety and environmental procedures, participating in basic safety processes as a key member of the site safety committee.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, with a preferred associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college, trade school certification, or advanced education in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation.
  • Technical Skills: Journey-level experience, with a strong understanding of environmental and safety regulations, and previous experience working as a plant operator.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Required to acquire a State of MN 2nd Class A boiler license within 18 months of employment, a 1st Class A license within 3 years of employment, and a Chief A Boiler license within 5 years of employment.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to accomplish physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting, as well as wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
