Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst to join our team. As a Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in analyzing enterprise-wide customer business needs and participating in the planning, design, and implementation of new or enhanced systems or reporting/analysis on multiple IT development projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the demand management process to assist the business in establishing business cases, scope, and requirements relating to requests for new systems or existing system changes.
  • Develop scope/statements of work, compliance documents, and procurement documents to support IT acquisition of products or services.
  • Consult with project teams and architects to identify current solutions or perform market research.
  • Gather information/documentation from vendors or contractors and translate business needs into requirements and functional/nonfunctional specifications.
  • Conduct interviews, workshops, and JAD sessions to gather, clarify, and document scope, business scenarios, workflows, requirements, etc.
  • Analyze and validate business requirements and processes, identify opportunities for process enhancement to benefit the Department, and identify gaps in information.
  • Use a structured process to define priorities and opportunities and/or work with stakeholders to define the minimum viable product (MVP) and options for improvements via subsequent phases.
  • Produce required work artifacts, communicate and present client's business requirements to implementation teams, and create systems models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and system architects.
  • Work with the team to define acceptance criteria or other metrics/performance goals for the system and provide status updates, complete weekly work time logs, and update work tickets weekly.
  • Provide estimates and target dates for task completion for incorporation into project schedules or work tickets.
Work Terms and Conditions
  • 8-hour workdays on a fixed schedule, starting no earlier than 7:00 AM Eastern Time, starting no later than 9:00 AM Eastern Time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • GDOT has not specified a number of days onsite vs remote. However, local candidates will be preferred over out-of-state candidates. GDOT prefers candidates who can demonstrate they have the capability to work a hybrid work schedule, which is a combination of remote and in-office work.
  • The consultant will follow all applicable State of Georgia and GDOT policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and accepted best practices.
  • The position end date is set for the end of the GDOT Fiscal Year. GDOT may exercise the option to renew contracts in one-year increments.
  • When teleworking or working remotely, the consultant must have a suitable internet connection and environment to comply with GDOT telework policies.
  • GDOT will reimburse authorized travel expense, lodging, and meals. GDOT will reimburse authorized travel use of a personal vehicle. Any travel expenses to start work or relocate to Georgia will not be reimbursed.
