Overview:

Cree is in search of a Facilities Operations Manager for our cutting-edge facility, the largest silicon carbide materials manufacturing site. The Facilities Operations team is tasked with ensuring the reliable operation of various semiconductor facility systems that support Cree's wafer production processes. As the Operations Manager, you will lead and directly manage a team responsible for operating the central utility plant. Our facility systems are designed to deliver uninterrupted services around the clock, every day of the year. You will also champion a culture of safety and quality within your teams by continuously improving processes, policies, procedures, and reliability programs to guarantee seamless facility operations.

Please note that this position will require working Wednesday through Friday and alternating Saturday nights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fully accountable for shift performance and adherence to facility system specifications.
  • Lead shift handover and daily operations meetings to ensure operational continuity.
  • Ensure prompt action in response to any out-of-control or out-of-specification conditions that may impact safety, compliance, or production.
  • Act as the primary contact during your shift for interactions with manufacturing and internal stakeholders during service disruptions and non-compliance events.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the facility's physical infrastructure to uphold high-quality standards.
  • Maintain regular communication with maintenance teams regarding ongoing work within the plant.
  • Uphold existing procedures related to your areas of responsibility.
  • Perform performance evaluations with team members to establish goals and development plans.
  • Foster collaboration by assisting with workload and providing technical leadership for facility systems operations.
  • Work alongside site engineers to implement system enhancements.
  • Promote a safe and positive work environment by prioritizing safety in all activities.
  • Review and approve Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for non-routine tasks and Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) as necessary.
  • Provide off-shift coverage as needed to ensure adequate staffing levels.

This Role is Ideal for You if You Have (Minimum Qualifications):

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial operations and maintenance (e.g., pumps, hydraulics, piping), mechanical systems, electrical systems, Ultra-Pure Water, wastewater system operations, plant operations, or field equipment technician roles, including automation and controls.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience or a proven ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Relevant certification, license, military experience, or an Associate's/Bachelor's degree in a facilities-related discipline.
  • Familiarity with SCADA and other HMI systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
