About the Role

As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at the University of California, Irvine, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality anesthesia care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Under the supervision of an anesthesiologist, you will be responsible for pre-operative assessment, anesthesia administration, patient monitoring, and post-operative care.

Responsibilities
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and nurse anesthesia program
  • Current certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
  • Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification by the American Heart Association
  • Ability to perform pre-operative assessment, anesthesia administration, and patient monitoring
  • Knowledge of pharmacology, dosage, side effects, and contraindications of anesthesia medications
  • Ability to safely insert venous and arterial monitoring lines and devices under medical direction
  • Knowledge of cardiac, respiratory, neuro, endocrine, and renal physiology as it relates to intra-operative events and management
  • Ability to recognize airway abnormalities and associated anesthesia implications
  • Ability to perform airway management techniques, including safe insertion of nasal and oral airways and performance of laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation
  • Ability to recognize return of consciousness and reflexes signaling safe emergence from anesthesia
  • Ability to recognize post-operative complications of anesthesia and initiate emergency treatment when indicated
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and nurse anesthesia program
  • AANA certification
  • Valid California Registered Nurse license
  • Valid California Nurse Anesthetist license
  • ACLS certification
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. You will be required to work varied shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. You must be able to provide proof of work authorization.
