This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily plant site operations to maintain safe and aesthetically pleasing water. The employee will be required to handle hazardous chemicals and may be responsible for ground maintenance, janitorial duties, and compound security on a shift.
Key Responsibilities- Operate the wastewater plant and be responsible for a shift.
- Report any operational deficiencies to supervisor.
- Be available for after-hours call-outs.
- Maintain adequate chemical supplies for daily operations.
- Maintain daily logs and records.
- Check all equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance.
- Perform minor laboratory work.
- May operate equipment on occasion, such as a tractor, and trucks.
- Answer telephone calls and dispatch emergency crew.
- Monitor and operate computers for alarms and proper operation of wastewater plant.
- Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Must be able to utilize all features afforded by computer technology software, report writing programs, and other required software and micro-computer equipment utilized by the assigned work unit.
- The applicant must maintain a valid Class "C" Wastewater Operators License issued by the FDEP.
- CPR/AED qualified.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
The employee may work in an office environment or outside in various weather conditions. The employee may work in or with moving vehicles and/or equipment. The employee may also come in contact with heights, electrical energy, poor lighting, darkness, odors, and may be required to have legs, feet, or hands in water/wastewater while on the job.
