Medical Laboratory Scientist

The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)/Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) plays a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by performing, evaluating, and correlating test procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of laboratory techniques and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
Responsibilities- Perform and evaluate test procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results
- Assist in the selection and evaluation of test methods to improve laboratory efficiency and effectiveness
- Participate in the education and professional development of laboratory personnel, new employees, and students
- Perform routine administrative and non-routine technical functions as needed
- 2-year Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or 4-year Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS)
- Meets one of the eligibility requirements for certification as an MLT or MLS through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- Entry-level position
- The laboratory is staffed seven days a week, 24 hours a day
- Personnel may be assigned to work mostly one shift or have a rotational schedule consisting of duty on day, evening, and night shifts
- Rotational coverage of holidays
- Expected to work overtime and/or additional weekends in times of staffing shortages, emergencies, and unexpected increases in workload
- Expected to respond in the event of a disaster

Salary range: $28.26-$43.81 commensurate with experience
