The Nutritional Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting individuals to enhance their dietary habits. This position involves providing essential nutritional guidance through the management of on-site food resources. Responsibilities include ensuring that food supplies are adequately stocked and systematically organized. The Specialist collaborates closely with Nutritionists and Dieticians to develop meal plans and deliver dietary information effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitoring and Documentation:

Assist in tracking and reporting activities related to food resource utilization. Maintain accurate records of individual access and food choices in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Communication:

Coordinate with supervisors to replenish food supplies. Collaborate with marketing teams to promote available food resources. Provide information on additional food assistance options to individuals.

Education and Support:

Guide individuals and their families on the importance of healthy eating practices and address any inquiries they may have.

Team Collaboration:

Support the collection and stocking of food items as needed. Work alongside site nutritionists and dieticians to deliver educational dietary information.

Analytical Skills:

Assist individuals with dietary restrictions in selecting suitable food options. Uphold food safety standards while managing pantry operations.

Patient Engagement:

Exhibit professionalism and integrity in all interactions. Actively involve individuals in their dietary care.

Technology Utilization:

Leverage EMR systems to oversee patient care, including tracking pantry usage for reporting purposes. Utilize approved communication tools to maintain effective communication with the healthcare team and external partners.

Compliance and Continuous Learning:

Stay informed about organizational policies and procedures, implementing them in daily tasks. Engage in ongoing education to remain updated on advancements in nutrition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma required. Previous experience in a related role is advantageous.

Skills: A strong interest in nutrition and health outcomes, along with effective communication and research abilities. Sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds is essential.

Physical Requirements: The role involves working primarily in an office setting with occasional external commitments. Ability to lift items weighing up to 30 lbs is necessary. A valid driver's license is required.
