Job Summary

Jobot is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Design Engineering to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Design and Engineering Department, prioritizing and scheduling work, and communicating with stakeholders. They will work closely with the Director of Technology Integration to develop and implement technological advancements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor incoming work and prioritize tasks using internal and external resources.
  • Assist the VP with staff level input and work closely with Sales and Project Management to monitor projects.
  • Conduct performance reviews for Drafting and Engineering Managers and assist with compensation reviews.
  • Evaluate outsource firms and establish formal documents outlining expectations and schedules.
  • Work with Drafting Managers to establish staff performance expectations and update the Standard Practices Manual.
  • Ensure Standard Practices, Policies, and Procedures are being followed and have an understanding of all trades required in a building project.
  • Be skilled at problem solving and able to meet with architects, engineers, contractors, and owners at project progress meetings.
  • Monitor production schedules and inform Project Management of potential delays.
  • Be familiar with all company products, applications, and capabilities and able to read construction documents.
  • Work with AutoCad, Revit, and other related software programs and converse with department heads, architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.
  • Monitor submittal drawing schedules and ensure timely submission.
  • Have a deep understanding of the precast industry and work with accounting on departmental annual budgets.
  • Monitor departmental project costs and provide ideas to improve efficiencies and project outputs.
  • Be a team leader and work to improve culture, skillsets, and talent within the department.
  • Work with the Talent Acquisition team to recruit new talent and serve as the division's liaison to local universities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of precast experience required.
  • Must have interpersonal skills to interact with co-workers, customers, and contractors.
  • Ability to train and coach other employees.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and drafting (Revit) and engineering (Eriksson) software platforms.
  • Must be able to lead a team with respect and dignity and be motivated and self-driven to complete tasks.
  • Ability to travel with some overnights and understand and accept changes implemented to become Best in Class.
