Key Responsibilities

  5. Records vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, oximetry, and pain levels; accurately documents this information in a timely manner.
  6. Maintains proficiency in using patient care equipment such as blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, and other medical devices.
  7. Assists with patient treatments, including repositioning and pre-operative preparations.
  8. Documents and records procedures, maintains oxygen levels, and performs necessary specimen collections.
  9. Communicates significant changes in patient status to the registered nurse promptly.
  10. Collaborates effectively with registered nurses and other healthcare team members, as well as patients and their families.
  11. Supports the patient discharge process and assists with transfers as directed by nursing staff.
  12. Participates in hourly patient rounds and responds to patient needs in a timely manner.
  13. Ensures safety and well-being of patients, families, and staff, responding appropriately to emergency situations.
  14. Verifies patient meal information and assists with meal service as needed.
  15. Maintains cleanliness and organization within the patient care environment.
  16. Actively engages in departmental meetings and training sessions.
  17. Continuously updates competencies and participates in patient safety initiatives.
  18. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and organizational information.
  19. Demonstrates basic computer skills and familiarity with department-specific software.
  20. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Core Competencies

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Must have completed an approved Certified Nursing Assistant Level II Acute Care course.

Licensure: Indiana CNA license required. CPR certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Experience: Minimum of 6 months in a patient care role or completion of 2 clinical semesters in nursing school; one year of experience in an acute or ambulatory care setting preferred.

Additional Requirements:

General computer proficiency and adaptability to changing patient assignments are essential. Ability to work collaboratively in a patient-centered environment.
