Unit Overview:
A5 is a 27-bed cardiac medical-surgical telemetry unit that specializes in the care of patients with various medical-surgical conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, and cardiac issues such as congestive heart failure.
Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering professional nursing care aimed at ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients. The RN prepares necessary equipment and assists physicians during examinations and treatments. Responsibilities include administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, cleaning wounds, and monitoring vital signs. The RN is also tasked with observing and documenting patient care, conditions, reactions, and progress.
The RN plays a crucial role as a primary nurse, associate nurse, team member, or team leader in the planning and execution of patient care. Additionally, the RN directs and supports the implementation of safe aseptic techniques and procedures while providing leadership and guidance to support staff within the department.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
- One year of nursing experience preferred.
- Current Texas State RN License.
- CPR certification (American Heart Association).
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer date.
- EKG certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer date.
