As a Software Architect at Five9, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our platform. You will collaborate with diverse engineering teams, offering both technical and architectural insights alongside business stakeholders to introduce new features and functionalities. A significant aspect of your role will involve establishing best practices and creating guidance documentation for our engineering teams, including supporting example code. In partnership with our platform team, you will also develop and sustain the tools, shared libraries, and linters utilized across Five9's engineering teams to address common cross-cutting concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance and maintain our API linter by refining rules, associated guidance, and processes.
- Contribute to service resiliency through the development of relevant tools, best practices, and guidance.
- Assist Five9 product managers by expanding our internal self-service analytics tools built on Looker and BigQuery.
- Plan, document, and support technical proof of concepts, including defining clear objectives and success criteria.
- Mentor and collaborate with developers on software development practices, technical implementations, and voice technologies and protocols.
- Engage with all facets of the Five9 organization, including other Architecture leads, Product Owners, Operations, Sustaining, Customer Service, and InfoSec, to deliver and uphold high-value solutions for our clients.
- Identify existing challenges and provide guidance to enhance scalability, fault tolerance, security, performance, resource utilization, development speed, deployment efficiency, and maintenance of the Five9 platform.
- Support the establishment of technical guilds within Five9 to create centers of excellence for technical knowledge.
Required Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in software architecture, including documentation of design specifications, patterns, and guidance documents, with a proven ability to drive change across multiple teams.
- 3+ years of experience utilizing Agile/Lean and DevOps methodologies.
- 5+ years of experience in software design and development, n-tier architecture, web services, object-oriented design, languages (Java, Typescript), and frameworks (Spring, Spring Cloud).
- Demonstrated experience in developing SaaS/PaaS architectures with a strong understanding of cloud technologies, including Kubernetes, security, non-functional elements, databases, and integration methodologies.
- Strong knowledge and experience in microservices architecture, multitenant infrastructures, event-driven/reactive programming, Java, and data management and analysis.
- Experience deploying and maintaining large enterprise software applications in high-load, highly available environments.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to present information clearly and concisely.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with contact center or call center software.
- Familiarity with VOIP technologies.
- Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure.
This position offers the flexibility of remote work for candidates outside a specified radius of our office location. For those within the radius, a hybrid work model is available, requiring in-office attendance on designated days.
