Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Owner III to join our team at Liberty Mutual. As a Product Owner III, you will be responsible for defining and prioritizing features and stories, ensuring alignment with customer needs and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including executive leadership, to develop a deep understanding of customer needs and priorities.
  • Work closely with Product Owners and Solutions Architects to ensure alignment and effective communication across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain a clear product vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Contribute to the development of the portfolio vision and communicate it effectively to stakeholders.
  • Manage product(s) with high degrees of strategy, scope, and complexity, ensuring clear and actionable user stories.
  • Participate in squad demos, retrospectives, and other ceremonies to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Lead IT and business leadership to align development and business goals and priorities, removing roadblocks to execution.
  • Monitor and maintain product health, designing additional monitoring to support enhanced understanding of product health.
  • Proactively monitor impact of product on others in the ecosystem, analyzing and reporting on feasibility, cost of delay ramifications, economies, or other aspects of planned or potential changes to the product.
  • Negotiate with squads across the entire ecosystem to align priorities both within and outside the portfolio.
  • Build the product roadmap and strategy based on ongoing input from stakeholders, determining expected value and any changes in value to be delivered in each iteration.
  • Lead customer-driven design and usability testing for the squads/team and across the portfolio, ensuring a well-positioned product through market and industry analysis.
  • Use internal data & analytics to measure impact of stories, epics & initiatives, prioritize backlog, set KPI goals, and build business case to support product vision.
  • Mentor POs that have less experience, come from different portfolios or Industries.
  • PO III often has dotted line oversight of other POs in an Agile Release Train.
  • PO III is the primary owner of the strategy for their Product to deliver business outcomes.
  • PO III owns alignment of stakeholders and be the ultimate decision maker on features implemented.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a Product Owner III-related occupation.
  • Proven business expertise setting clear priorities for products and understanding business value impacts.
  • Making decisions with some level of uncertainty; guided by experience and data available to support decisions.
  • Driving innovation amongst uncertainty and exploiting market opportunities.
  • Portfolio specific experience with insurance sales technology development for super regional or countrywide insurance carrier.
  • Portfolio specific experience with Independent Agency channel knowledge; particularly knowledge of sales processes, variation of business models, competitor capabilities.
