Position Summary:

Our team is seeking a Senior Scientist to enhance our R&D efforts. The Specialty Coatings R&D division is focused on pioneering new coating solutions, advanced technologies, and innovative capabilities. We are in search of a seasoned professional with a robust technical and scientific foundation, along with significant experience in spearheading development projects for essential coating applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in specialized projects, formulate strategies, and support initiatives aimed at exploring new technologies related to materials, surface modifications, and wafer chuck technologies, as well as applications in adjacent technology sectors.
  • Collaborate with technology vendors and academic partners, as well as research institutions and industry leaders.
  • Evaluate scenarios, implement solutions, and create new capabilities, systems, or technological components.
  • Contribute to the formulation of technology and product roadmaps. Assess and validate product and customer needs for future offerings through research, literature reviews, and customer interactions.
  • Propose enhancements to technology and products to meet evolving customer demands.
  • Work alongside internal and external stakeholders to assess, evaluate, and trial advanced technologies for various new applications.
  • Demonstrate, apply, and interpret scientific or engineering principles; this includes planning, developing, and executing experiments for current and future product and technology applications.
  • Effectively communicate development plans and outcomes both internally and externally; coordinate communication with Applications Development, Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and Management through meetings and written/oral updates.
  • Conduct fundamental materials characterization and attribute testing for both existing and new materials/coating systems.
  • Provide technical leadership in resolving complex customer challenges while ensuring intellectual property ownership.

Qualifications:

  • MS/Ph.D. in Materials Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in new materials/product development, vacuum coatings, IC manufacturing technologies, or similar fields.
  • In-depth knowledge of the microelectronics sector and familiarity with thin film deposition processes (ALD/PVD/PECVD), etching (metal/dielectric/conductor), patterning (lithography/EUV), metrology, integration, tooling, and manufacturing/process tool equipment.
  • Technical expertise in thin film coating technologies, characterization techniques, and/or semiconductor wafer handling.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to interact across various functions and regions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Project and program management proficiency.
  • Focus on critical development processes to ensure robustness, repeatability, and reliability, utilizing Six Sigma methodologies such as DOE, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Minitab.
  • Experience in managing and prioritizing multiple tasks simultaneously to achieve organizational objectives.
