Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team at Navy Lodge - North Island. As a Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for performing facilities maintenance work involving two or more skilled trades. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing Facilities Maintenance Work: You will be responsible for performing intermediate-level tasks and working more independently as training and experience increase.
  • Plumbing and HVAC Work: You will make basic plumbing repairs to sinks, faucets, commodes, tanks, urinals, P-traps, shut-off valves on washing machines, and water supply. You will also perform routine maintenance on washers and dryers, including cleaning lint ducts and vents, replacing hoses and fittings as required.
  • Electrical Work: You will recognize and report electrical problems and make repairs as appropriate. You will also replace fluorescent and incandescent ballasts, bulbs, and tubes as needed.
  • Carpentry Work: You will measure, cut, and construct or repair wood or wood substitute items. You will also conduct basic carpentry repairs, applying a general knowledge of wood, composite materials, and woodworking techniques.
  • Painting Work: You will prepare areas and apply standard coating methods, including brushing, rolling, and spraying. You will ensure surfaces are fully coated, protected, and free from drips and runs.
  • Work Order Log and Follow-up: You will maintain a work order log and follow up as required. You will report status to your supervisor and log trouble calls with contractors as appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Safety and Environmental Rules: You will have knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, tools, mechanical and electrified equipment, commonly used chemicals, and basic safe work practices.
  • Physical Demands: You will be required to perform moderately strenuous physical labor, including standing, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, and climbing. You will also be required to lift, move, and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 45 pounds, with assistance for heavier items.
  • Work Environment: You will work in a fast-paced environment with potential exposure to extreme weather or temperature conditions. You will also be exposed to dusty or dirty conditions when visiting rooms or facilities undergoing repair, maintenance, or renovation.
