Job Summary

The Apprentice Optician at EssilorLuxottica is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and creating value in the lives of customers by performing the key steps of our selling model. This role is part of our sanctioned Apprentice Program, which provides opportunities for growth and development in the optical industry.

Main Responsibilities
  • Convey a commitment to providing unsurpassed customer service by performing the following sales and service process steps: greeting the customer, explaining the process, merchandise selection, fitting, solving visual problems, tendering, and dispensing.
  • Serve as a center of excellence for others, focusing on Right the First Time and modeling our CEE service and selling model.
  • Assist customers in selecting frames and lenses that meet their vision, lifestyle, and budgetary needs, suggesting improvements and recommending solutions to problems.
  • Anticipate problems before they occur, explore underlying reasons, and develop long-term solutions.
  • Show patience and courtesy with customers, track down answers to unfamiliar questions, and educate them on LensCrafters' guarantees and services.
  • Handle tasks such as taking and recording measurements, adjusting or fitting eyewear carefully and correctly, and ensuring finished eyewear meets LensCrafters' optical standards and customer requirements.
  • Strive to achieve 'Exceptional Results' on LensCrafters' annual CEI/Functional Skills that align with brand priorities.
  • Take personal ownership to achieve personal and store results, serving as a role model for development and a technical resource for all.
  • Operate the Point of Sale terminal, inputting customer and prescription information with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Accurately operate the Point of Sale, collecting proper payment following company security procedures and retaining proper change for various transactions.
  • Explain 'One Hour' processing and expected delivery times to customers, showing them where to pick up their glasses upon return to the store.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all associates and customers, informing management of any potential safety opportunities.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices, including wearing personal protection equipment in the lab.

Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Part of a sanctioned Apprentice Program.
  • Strong customer service skills, including communication, listening, and teamwork.
  • Knowledge of current optical theory and merchandise.
  • Knowledge of current store merchandise.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Awareness of current fashion trends.
  • Sales and service skills.
  • Familiarity with POS, computers, and calculators.
  • Embracing new technology and change.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Actively studying for LensCrafters Quality, Fitting, and Adjusting Program.
  • Optical dispensing experience.
  • Previous customer service and retail experience.
