The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specializing in Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) serves as an educator, advocate, and care provider, ensuring the health and safety of patients preparing for surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities - Conduct comprehensive medical histories and physical examinations for patients scheduled for elective surgeries.
- Enhance the management of comorbid conditions in patients prior to surgery.
- Implement risk assessment protocols for patients undergoing elective surgical interventions.
- Request and analyze EKGs, laboratory tests, imaging studies, and various cardiac evaluations.
- Ensure precise medication reconciliation and oversee perioperative medication protocols.
- Collaborate with various medical specialties as necessary, including Anesthesia, Surgery, and Internal Medicine.
- Direct patients to appropriate specialists for additional preoperative assessments and optimization.
