Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will establish a friendly, efficient, preoperative process for patients having surgery at OrthoIndy Hospital facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and assess patient condition, reporting any unusual symptoms, occurrences, or discrepancies to appropriate Physicians and manager.
  • Provide care safely, with adequate quality, quantity, and timeliness, and according to applicable standards.
  • Set up, operate, and/or monitor the use of various systems, equipment, and instrumentation required for patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with Physicians and peers regarding requests and scheduled appointments.
  • Initiate indicated patient care plans, ensuring the plan of care reflects the patient's needs.
  • Provide instruction, information, and counseling to patients and their families as needed.
  • Obtain complete medical history and retrieve records as indicated.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries promptly, screening calls and providing information to patients and staff as needed.

Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Nurse license in the state of Indiana required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • 2-4 years of related experience required; 4-6 years preferred.

OrthoIndy Hospital Northwest provides outpatient care and inpatient care, with 10 operating rooms, 2 procedure rooms, and a 42-bed inpatient unit for patients undergoing more invasive procedures. Other services include an urgent care, clinics, pre-op clinic, imaging, and physical therapy.
