\strong{Job Summary:}
Provides safe, quality patient care in the Peri-Operative Unit (Pre-Op, Recovery, and Operating Room).
\strong{Key Responsibilities:}
\item Ensures a high standard of nursing care to patients in the Hutchinson Ambulatory Surgery Center, working within company policies and procedures and nursing standards
\item Assesses patient status on admission to the pre-op area, the operating room, and/or the post-op area, on a continuing basis
\item Provides assistance during surgical procedures and ensures safe working practices
\item Sets, monitors, and maintains excellent standards of nursing care
\item Safely carries out physicians orders correctly and promptly, documenting all activities
\item Maintains personal contact with patients and relatives, being sensitive to their needs for courtesy, dignity, and privacy and ensuring a friendly environment at all times
\item Maintains timely and accurate nursing records and ensures that confidentiality is respected
\item Stores, checks, and administers medication in accordance with established standards and guidelines
\item Works with minimal supervision during surgical procedures, admission and recovery of patients and other related procedures
\item Contributes to the local resolution, investigation and follow up action of any informal or formal grievances
\item Takes part in pre and post-op phone calls and communicates any problems to the supervisor
\item Maintains competencies in conscious sedation administration and monitoring of sedated patients, including airway protection, assessment, and support of sedated patients
\item Ensures the safe discharge of all patients from the Surgical Unit
\item Maintains a safe and clean environment within the clinical and surgical area in accordance with established standards and regulations
\item Assists anesthesia with set up and tear down of anesthesia and monitoring equipment
\item Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for professional practice and continued professional growth. Attends all in-services and meetings as appropriate
\strong{Requirements:}
\item Minimum 2 year of experience in an RN related healthcare position
\item Must be a licensed registered nurse (RN) in the state of Kansas
\item BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required
\strong{Preferred Skills:}
\item Ability to care for patients undergoing surgical procedures and to provide technical and nursing assistance during such procedures
\item Ability to correlate clinical data with nursing care
\item Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs
\item Must demonstrate an understanding of clinical risk
\item Ability to direct and provide for patient care in emergency situations
\item Knowledge of EMR system
\item Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
\strong{Physical Requirements:}
\item Occasionally lift or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds
\item Requires full range of body motion
\item Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time
\item Vision and hearing to normal range
\item Exposure to communicable diseases and toxic substances
