Job Description:
Clinical Staff Nurse Role
The Clinical Staff Nurse functions as a champion of quality patient care, demonstrating critical thinking skills and scientific judgment in anticipating and planning for patient needs. The nurse is responsible for performing at a competent level, consistently demonstrating the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Additionally, the nurse must uphold the highest standards of professional performance, encompassing ethics, cultural diversity, communication, collaboration, evidence-based practice, nursing research, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health.
Responsibilities
Implements and coordinates patient care in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare staff, utilizing the nursing process. Documents all pertinent information regarding nursing care, care plans, and observations. Maintains knowledge of facility infection control procedures and recognizes, questions, and reports significant patient findings and inconsistencies in medical or nursing orders/treatment regimens. Collaborates and seeks corrective action as necessary. Selects and individualizes clinical procedures, protocols, standards, and discharge/teaching plans, completing and submitting patient/unit charges. Provides functional direction and assistance to LPNs and CNAs or MAs, completes new staff orientation, and makes rounds to ensure continuity of care, maintaining HIPAA compliance at all times.
Requirements
A minimum of 1 year of experience in pediatric ICU, with an Associate's degree in Nursing required and BSN preferred. Must possess a valid Florida RN license, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers, with at least 6 months' validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment. Meet current unit-specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by the nursing area. Must be able to analyze, organize, and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines, communicate effectively in both oral and written form, handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure, understand and follow instructions, exercise sound and independent judgment, and demonstrate behaviors of service excellence and CARE values.
