About the Role:

This position involves working with juveniles in a detention center or community setting, providing supervision, care, and welfare under close supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Observe and control juvenile detainees' activities.
  • Maintain facility, personnel, and juvenile safety and security.
  • Provide mentorship and character development for detained juveniles.
  • Respond to emergencies and stressful situations.
  • Process bookings, releases, and detention records.
  • Testify in court as needed.
  • Operate control room, use visual observation, radios, and software.
  • Transport juveniles to court and other activities.
  • Perform searches and other job-related duties.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum six months of relevant experience in youth/young adult or corrections settings.
  • Integrity, honesty, dependability, accuracy, initiative, good judgment, and courtesy.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license.
  • Detention officer certification within one year of hire.
  • Defensive tactics and restraint training within one year of hire.
  • Internal intensive training program within three months of hire.
  • U.S. citizen or legal resident status.
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Pass extensive background investigation, fingerprinting, and other checks.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods, sufficient vision, hearing, and speech ability, and physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds.
