Job Overview

The Survey Field Operations Leader will oversee the management of the surveying team, ensuring the following responsibilities are met:

Accuracy and Timeliness: Guarantee the precision, thoroughness, and prompt completion of various land surveying assignments.

Documentation: Ensure the production of clear and comprehensive notes and sketches relevant to the projects.

Coordination: Facilitate daily communication with team members and ensure the submission of up-to-date field data.

Compliance: Ensure that the team adheres to all safety regulations, company policies, and specific job site requirements.

Equipment Safety: Oversee the safe operation of all surveying equipment and vehicles utilized in projects.

Log Management: Ensure the timely completion and submission of all equipment and vehicle logs for billing and maintenance purposes.

Training: Provide ongoing training to all team members to support their professional development.

Research: Organize public records research related to property documentation and assist in identifying property locations in the field.

Occasionally, the Survey Field Operations Leader will also coordinate with various client representatives in the field.

Travel: Some overnight travel may be necessary.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient knowledge of land surveying techniques including control networking, topographic surveying, planimetric surveying, and site layout using:
    • Traditional total station
    • Robotic total station
    • GPS with a VRS network
    • GPS with a localized base and rover
    • Automatic differential level
    • Digital differential level
    • Data collectors using Survey Pro software
    • Data collectors using Trimble Survey Controller software

Ability to conduct necessary field checks to ensure compliance with minimum standards and to calculate points in the field for boundary and layout as required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of progressive experience in land surveying field operations.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role within a survey crew.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding project details.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record to meet insurance standards.
  • Ability to pass all required substance testing as mandated by clients.
