Job Overview

Millennium Physician Group is in search of a dedicated Full Time Credentialing Specialist to become a vital part of our Business Services Team. The Credentialing Specialist plays a crucial role in connecting and updating physician and mid-level provider information with contracted insurance providers. This position also involves assisting with staff privileges at local hospitals and nursing facilities. The specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate and current data for physicians and mid-level providers within our database, as well as with insurance carriers and facilities. Timeliness and effectiveness in achieving these objectives are essential. Additionally, the specialist will support the Business Services teams as needed.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that new and existing applications and reappointment documentation are completed accurately and promptly, including tasks for current providers.
  • Collecting and processing verification and accreditation data for all physicians and mid-level providers associated with insurance carriers.
  • Monitoring and renewing physician and mid-level provider licenses as required.
  • Maintaining professional communication with physicians, mid-level providers, and internal staff to ensure consistent and up-to-date record-keeping. Ensuring all provider files are current with Human Resources.
  • Exhibiting proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and credentialing-specific software (e.g., Intellisoft) or hospital online application systems.
  • Utilizing Athena as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities and related tasks.
  • Keeping supervisors informed about job responsibilities and any challenges encountered.
  • Demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Required Qualifications

An Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution is preferred, along with three or more years of relevant experience in Provider Credentialing. Experience in the healthcare and insurance sectors is also preferred.


Required Skills and Competencies

To excel in this role, candidates should possess strong computer skills and familiarity with EMR systems; knowledge of Athena is advantageous but not mandatory. The role may require performing venipuncture. While executing job duties, the employee may occasionally need to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
