Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist II to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specialize in a surgical specialty area and serve as a resource to others, assisting with complex surgical cases.
  • Set up and operate various types of equipment used during procedures, ensuring optimal patient care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient operating room environment, adhering to institutionally approved infection control policies.
  • Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique and equipment.
  • Assist in the instrument room by cleaning and wrapping instruments, as needed.
  • Participate in call coverage and relevant educational programs, ensuring continuous learning and growth.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification, obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
  • No experience required, but demonstrated ability to meet Surgical Technologist I competencies is essential.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and reach above shoulders and twist frequently during the work shift. You must also be able to withstand a very stressful and fast-paced environment.

Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, carrying up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance, pushing/pulling with 30 lbs. of force, and performing a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.

You will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines, have functional sight and hearing, and be exposed to various hazards, including mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood, and body fluids.

Personal protective equipment, such as masks, gloves, goggles, and gowns, will be provided and required for use.
