CandyCo LLC is a rapidly expanding confectionery manufacturing organization. We are in search of a skilled production maintenance technician to enhance our operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in machinery repair and troubleshooting, collaborating with production teams to reduce downtime and boost operational efficiency.
Position Purpose
The Maintenance Technician Level-II is tasked with executing scheduled preventive maintenance and addressing all equipment service requests on the production floor. This role involves immediate repairs as well as those requiring a work order. Compliance with safety standards, food safety regulations, facility audits, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is essential at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular maintenance services as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
- Oversee the upkeep of manufacturing assets and facilities (lubrication, monitoring, filter inspections).
- Facilitate training and ongoing development for staff.
- Provide reports during shifts and at the end of the day regarding maintenance tasks completed.
- Adhere to all food safety protocols while servicing equipment.
- Exemplify the Company's Safety Culture and strive for 100% safety compliance.
- Be flexible with work schedules, including shifts, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance technician role.
- Ability to read and comprehend English, following equipment manuals.
- Proficient in specific skill sets such as HVAC, electrical systems, machining, welding, etc.
- Capable of performing diagnostics on controls and settings, using measuring tools, and executing internal and external machine diagnostics, as well as replacing components (pumps, bearings, controls, valves, etc.).
- Prior experience in the food industry is advantageous.
- OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Outreach Training is preferred but not mandatory.
Experience and Skills
- Strong communication skills and respect for colleagues.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and possesses a proactive, hands-on work ethic.
- Proficient in computer applications such as Excel and Word; CAD knowledge is a plus.
- In-depth technical knowledge of equipment, products, and processes.
- Solid understanding of maintenance and reliability principles.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and possesses excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform Level-I technician tasks.
- Familiarity with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is a plus.
- Strong background in HACCP, safety protocols, GMPs, and regulatory food safety audits.
Working Conditions
Must be available to work various hours and days, including holidays and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Wear non-slip resistant work shoes; steel-toe shoes when required.
- Engage in pre-shift stretching and exercises.
- Utilize hair restraints, beard nets (if necessary), and safety gloves as needed.
- Properly wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with machinery or hazardous materials.
- The position requires the ability to stand, sit, walk throughout the facility, lift and carry equipment parts (up to 50 lbs unassisted), and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting to inspect equipment.
- Must also possess the ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively with colleagues and others while maintaining professional etiquette.
