About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facility Maintenance Specialist III to join our team at 1-800-Flowers. This is a 2nd shift position, Monday through Thursday, 4pm-2:30am.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment using analytical techniques to identify root problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including inspecting drives, motors, belts, and checking fluid levels, to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
  • Identify and repair electrical issues on equipment and facility, ensuring a safe working environment for all associates.
  • Utilize mechanic and electrical tools and meters to perform high-quality work and meet role expectations.
  • Operate manlift equipment and assist others in performing duties at elevated levels within the Distribution Center environment.
  • Supervise seasonal maintenance helpers on facility and equipment repairs and projects, providing detailed feedback to supervisors.
  • Manage multiple tasks, making professional decisions to reduce downtime while prioritizing safety.
  • Maintain daily inspection logs and reports of all work, including project and assigned work order status, and material and equipment parts usage.
  • Ensure proper sanitation and minimize potential problems associated with disassembling and assembling production equipment.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, with some technical maintenance skill training.
  • Previous electrical experience in 480/3 wiring specification, equipment control devices, frequency drives, and PLC operations is mandatory.
  • Ability to use all hand tools, standard power tools for metal and wood working, machining tools, measuring devices, welding equipment, and electrical measuring tools.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding building blueprints, ladder logic, electrical schematics, and working drawings.
  • Ability to operate welding equipment, including acetylene torches, plasma cutters, mig, tig, and arc welders, is a plus.
  • Must complete company training on forklift operations, Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash boundaries, hot work permits, and food safety practices.
  • Training in Chemical Hazard Communication, Confined Space Awareness, and Food Safety Practices is a plus.
  • Maintenance personnel are required to provide their own basic hand tools, while all power, specialty, and large tools will be provided by the company.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Mechanical knowledge, including machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Customer and Personal Service knowledge, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Physical Demands and Work Effort
  • Able to lift up to 30lbs consistently and 50lbs on occasion.
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods (8 hours +), stoop, kneel, crawl, and climb.
  • Associates are required to be willing to work in heights of 30+ feet and in cold storage (0 to 40 degrees) for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours) to complete project assignments and work repairs.
  • Ability to pursue continuing education in the electrical and mechanic industries on own and with company-provided opportunities.
