Position Overview
PeaceHealth is in search of an Emergency Services Associate for a Full Time, 0.90 FTE, Night position. The compensation range for this role is $21.37 – $32.04, with the starting salary influenced by various factors such as education, experience, and applicable agreements.
Become a part of a dynamic Level II Trauma unit and collaborate with a supportive and dedicated team. Your customer service expertise will be essential in ensuring the efficient operation of the Emergency Department. PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility offering a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient services.
This role is governed by a collective bargaining agreement, and multiple openings may be available.
Key Responsibilities
- Support nursing staff and other healthcare team members in patient care activities, including receiving patients via ambulance and from triage, assisting ambulatory patients, preparing for procedures, obtaining vital signs, and providing necessary treatment supplies.
- Conduct basic patient monitoring and report any significant changes in patient conditions to the appropriate team member.
- Maintain inventory by stocking patient rooms and supply areas to meet care requirements, while ensuring cleanliness in patient care areas and equipment.
- Perform clerical and communication tasks to facilitate departmental operations and enhance patient care.
- Manage order entry and results retrieval within the electronic health record system.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited program as an Acute Care Certified Nursing Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician.
- Possession of a current Nursing Assistant certification in Washington state or Emergency Medical Technician experience with Nursing Assistant Registered certification at the time of hire.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience as a Certified or Registered Nursing Assistant or EMT is required.
- Basic Life Support certification is mandatory upon hire.
Working Conditions
Lifting Requirements
- Patient handling should not exceed 35 lbs. without assistive devices.
- Fine motor skills are necessary for operating medical equipment and performing precise tasks.
- Ability to navigate the work area with occasional sitting, frequent reaching, bending, squatting, and grasping.
- Frequent lifting of up to 15 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. is expected.
- Push/Pull requirements include frequent force of up to 20 lbs. and occasional force of up to 30 lbs.
Environmental Considerations
- Exposure to biohazards, body fluids, and airborne particles.
- Potential contact with toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Work is conducted in a medical/hospital environment.
Mental/Visual Requirements
- Vision and hearing must be within normal limits (corrective devices are permitted).
- Effective communication and accurate information exchange are essential.
