Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at The Heil Co. in Fort Payne, AL. As a key member of our Engineering / Facility department, you will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, repairing welding and fabrication machinery, and performing daily upkeep of buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Maintain production equipment, including adjusting brakes and replacing motors, transformers, and contactor cranes.
  2. Repair welding equipment, including adjusting or replacing PC boards, transformers, compactors, and welding leads.
  3. Maintain fabrication machinery, including replacing and adjusting brakes, shears, drills, saws, torches, and punches.
  4. Maintain paint equipment, including repairing paint pumps, high-pressure lines, agitators, and air lines.
  5. Perform daily upkeep of buildings and grounds, including plumbing repairs, filling potholes, and adjusting bay doors.
  6. Maintain upkeep of forklifts, including repairing or replacing tires, rollers, carriages, rear end parts, and LP gas.
  7. Perform preventative maintenance duties on company vehicles, including refueling, changing oil, checking tires, and washing inside and outside.
  8. Maintain upkeep of diesel fuel pumps and hydraulic filter systems.
  9. Repair heating/cooling systems in the office and air compressors in the plant, as needed.
  10. Lights pilots and turns on thermostat for heating system during cold weather.
  11. Maintain upkeep of cranes and overhead hoists.
  12. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment, as needed.
  13. Build electrical controls for the plant, as needed.
  14. Observe all safety regulations and report any unsafe working conditions to the department supervisor or management.
  15. Attend work regularly and accept overtime assignments as needed to meet departmental goals and objectives.
  16. Occasionally drive company vehicles for parts pickup and perform maintenance duties in the front office.
Requirements

We require a High School diploma or GED and the ability to understand general arithmetic, write in an understandable manner, and use PC-based applications, including Mainstar, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.

The ideal candidate will have normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate machinery approximately 50% of the time and be able to lift up to 40 lbs. approximately 15% of the time.
