About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Meat Department Specialist to join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for receiving, rotating, cutting, wrapping, and merchandising fresh and processed meats, including grinds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with members by making recommendations and answering questions regarding meat, poultry, and seafood.
  • Cut, grind, and/or process fresh meats to company cutting standards.
  • Weigh, package, wrap, and label cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood to company packaging standards.
  • Ensure the meat case showcases all currently available products and maintain an appropriate level of inventory.
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment, display fixtures, and areas in the meat department.
  • Inspect and store meat upon delivery, ensuring that all received meats meet or exceed company quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including placing orders and working in other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Completion of a training program/apprenticeship required.
  • Previous meat cutting experience required.
  • Knowledge of automatic/hand wrapping machines preferred.
  • At least 18 years of age.

Work Environment

  • Most of the time is spent moving about on hard surfaces.
  • Frequently requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Located in a cooler area with frequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises.

Compensation

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $18.00.
