Key Responsibilities

The Sterilization Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that all surgical instruments are processed and sterilized for optimal daily usage.

  • Gathers used and contaminated tools, instruments, and materials for sorting and decontamination.
  • Conducts manual cleaning of items to remove contaminants.
  • Operates and maintains decontamination machinery.
  • Prepares and packages decontaminated items for the sterilization process.
  • Inspects items thoroughly to confirm they are adequately cleaned and sanitized.
  • Regularly tests and reports any concerns or malfunctions with sterilization equipment.
  • Sterilizes, prepares, wraps, and organizes tools into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.
  • Assembles and delivers all essential equipment and instruments for surgical operations.
  • Keeps detailed records of sterilization processes, sterilized items, equipment upkeep, and inventory.
  • Monitors stock levels and supplies.
  • Performs additional related tasks as required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Certification in Sterile Processing and Distribution is advantageous.
