Job Description

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Facilities will oversee the management and maintenance of all KIPP New Jersey and KIPP Miami facilities, ensuring that they are safe, efficient, and effective. This includes:

  • Developing and implementing facilities management plans and policies
  • Managing facilities budgets and resources
  • Overseeing capital projects and renovations
  • Ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Providing training and support to facilities staff
  • Collaborating with regional operations leaders to meet regional needs

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the Director of Facilities will need:

  • At least five years of experience in facilities management, building engineering, design or maintenance, construction or construction management, or asset management
  • Knowledge of building and life safety codes
  • Knowledge of construction methods and practices
  • Extensive knowledge of building systems including electrical, HVAC, plumbing and life safety equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications
  • Financial analysis and budget management skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office suite
  • Familiarity with floor plan drawing software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam
  • Familiarity with scheduling software
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and a passion for excellent service and quality results
  • Ability to multitask, work collaboratively, and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly effective communication skills via phone, email, and in person

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not required:

  • Construction estimating experience
  • Proficiency in Spanish
  • Familiarity with Work Order Ticketing software
  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting
