We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer – Distributed Energy Resource to join our team at Eversource Energy. This role will be responsible for performing DER feasibility reviews, developing distribution system power flow models, and assisting in the assessment and analysis of proposed solutions associated with the integration of DERs.
Key Responsibilities- Perform DER feasibility reviews and System Impact Studies (steady-state and dynamic) to provide input to the DER Interconnection Agreement.
- Develop distribution system power flow models for studying the interconnection of DERs.
- Assist in the assessment and analysis of proposed solutions associated with the integration of DERs and their impact on the ISO-NE regional system.
- Develop design solutions and possible alternatives to mitigate identified assessment criteria violations.
- Interface and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to determine planning needs and proposed plans.
- Conduct assessments and develop interconnection options or alternative solutions.
- Apply industry and corporate distribution planning standards in conjunction with regulations of Federal, State, and Local regulatory authorities.
- Represent the department and the company on various industry-related committees.
- Participate with other utilities and the planning staff of the Independent System Operator (ISO) in the preparation of regional distribution and substation expansion studies.
- Assist with the preparation of high-level construction estimates.
- Serve as a team leader on specialized internal and external cross-functional teams to develop engineering solutions and customer satisfaction.
- Manage approved inverter lists and review UL certifications.
- Prepare Special Operating Guidelines.
- Train interns in technical analyses and procedures.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts, including distribution system N-1 contingency at substation and feeder level, power generation, energy storage, reliability, load flow, flicker, stability, short circuit, voltage regulation, transients, power factor, losses, protection, and controls.
- Strong technical understanding of the parameters and functions used in the operation of the power delivery system, as well as power industry fundamentals, practices, and standards.
- Knowledge and experience using power system modeling and simulation software for steady-state and dynamic power flow, voltage, short circuit, stability, and electromagnetic transients.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, and persuasion skills, both verbal and written.
- Essential software proficiency includes Synergi or Cyme/PSSE, PSCAD or EMTP, Aspen, eGIS, Visio, C2, PI Processbook, and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Eversource tariffs and technical standards.
- A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related is required. An Advanced Degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of related experience is required.
- Licenses & Certifications: EIT or Professional Engineer's License preferred.
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $118,690.00 to $131,880.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
