About the Role

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathology Assistant to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathology Assistant, you will work closely with our Speech Language Pathologists to provide speech and language services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Speech Language Pathologists in providing speech and language services, including screenings, assessments, and treatment plans.
  • Provide support with bilingual translation during screenings and assessments.
  • Document student performance and report to supervising Speech Language Pathologists.
  • Program and provide instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices.
  • Assist with clerical duties, such as preparing materials and scheduling activities.
  • Clean and maintain equipment used in the field.
  • Report reactions to treatment or changes in condition to supervising Speech Language Pathologists.
  • Maintain communication with district and other personnel caring for students.
  • Participate in formal care conferences, parent conferences, and intra-disciplinary team meetings.
  • Support Speech Language Pathologists in research projects, in-service training, public relations programs, and marketing programs.
  • Provide information to emergency response agencies for individuals with communication and/or swallowing disorders.
  • Promote early identification and early intervention activities.
  • Present primary prevention information to individuals or groups known to be at risk for communication disorders.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a SLPA program with an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in a speech-language pathology or communication disorders program.
  • Successful completion of a minimum of 100 hours of supervised field work experience or its clinical experience equivalent as required by state and/or contract.
  • Current certification or licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in the State of Practice.
  • Must comply with accepted professional standards and practice.
  • One (1) year of prior professional Speech-Language Pathology Assistant experience preferred.
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program.
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
