Job Summary

The Residential Aide plays a vital role in developing and implementing the therapeutic program and treatment plan for residents. This position requires a strong commitment to creating a supportive and therapeutic environment, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve program goals, and providing direct care to residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the therapeutic program and treatment plan
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to achieve program goals and objectives
  • Provide direct care to residents, including daily administrative functions and documentation
  • Assist in the maintenance of the unit(s) and supervise residents with housekeeping tasks and repairs
  • Prepare plans of action and behavior sheets as needed
  • Adhere to facility policies and procedures for resident aide services
  • Supervise residents on a daily basis and ensure adequate levels of supervision are met
  • Available for consultation on group issues and maintain a positive group milieu
  • Attend and schedule progress review meetings
  • Maintain availability for consultation and assistance as needed by residents
  • Counsel residents in collaboration with residential coordinators
  • Provide behavior management and reasonable expectations to residents according to facility protocols and individual resident treatment plans
  • Assist in conflict resolution and facilitate resident insight and understanding of themselves and others
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in social sciences preferred
  • One year relevant experience in a residential treatment setting highly preferred
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required
  • Current valid driver's license required
  • Crisis prevention course certification preferred
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
  • Current CPR certification if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate required
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
