The Residential Aide plays a vital role in developing and implementing the therapeutic program and treatment plan for residents. This position requires a strong commitment to creating a supportive and therapeutic environment, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve program goals, and providing direct care to residents.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development and implementation of the therapeutic program and treatment plan
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to achieve program goals and objectives
- Provide direct care to residents, including daily administrative functions and documentation
- Assist in the maintenance of the unit(s) and supervise residents with housekeeping tasks and repairs
- Prepare plans of action and behavior sheets as needed
- Adhere to facility policies and procedures for resident aide services
- Supervise residents on a daily basis and ensure adequate levels of supervision are met
- Available for consultation on group issues and maintain a positive group milieu
- Attend and schedule progress review meetings
- Maintain availability for consultation and assistance as needed by residents
- Counsel residents in collaboration with residential coordinators
- Provide behavior management and reasonable expectations to residents according to facility protocols and individual resident treatment plans
- Assist in conflict resolution and facilitate resident insight and understanding of themselves and others
- Bachelor's Degree in social sciences preferred
- One year relevant experience in a residential treatment setting highly preferred
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required
- Current valid driver's license required
- Crisis prevention course certification preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR certification if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate required
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills
- Computer proficiency required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
