Job Summary

We are seeking an Electroencephalograph Technician to join our team at the Public Health Trust of Dade Co. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating electronic equipment to record electrical impulses in the brain, obtaining data for evaluation of certain brain disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform EEGs on in/out patients according to the American Electroencephalographic Society's Guidelines.
  • Operate electronic equipment to record electrical impulses in the brain.
  • Obtain data for evaluation of certain brain disorders.
  • Summarize the patient's neurologic status and clinical history.
  • Explain the recording procedure to patients and families.
  • Adapt methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results.
  • Provide patient care and detailed observations of clinical manifestations during seizures and other emergency situations.
  • Keep the room and equipment in clean operating condition.
  • Perform maintenance and minor repair of laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare EEG tracings and paperwork for interpretation by physicians.
  • Process paperwork and computer functions to facilitate recordkeeping and billing.
  • Order and distribute laboratory supplies.
  • Retrieve previous EEG tracings and/or reports for reference.
  • Schedule in/outpatients when necessary.
  • Prepare equipment for sterilization.
  • Assist supervisor in the technical training of students and residents.
  • Accept on-call duties when assigned.
  • Participate in professional association activities and meetings.

Requirements

  • 0 to 3 years of related experience.
  • High School diploma required.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment.
  • Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.

Working Conditions

  • Job function requires extended standing or walking.
  • Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds.
  • Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices.
  • Jobs in this group require frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of computers.
