Position Overview

Eligibility: This opportunity is available to current, permanent employees within the agency and eligible applicants under specific hiring authorities.

Salary Range: The role offers a salary starting at $49,025 for GS-07, with potential earnings up to $70,578 for GS-08, depending on qualifications and experience.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage accounting operations related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury fund balances.
  • Ensure the accuracy and validity of financial documents, manage subsidiary ledgers, and perform reconciliations of outstanding contractual obligations.
  • Interpret and apply relevant policies and regulations to guarantee compliance in all accounting activities.
  • Provide training and support to junior accounting staff, ensuring they understand and execute accounting procedures correctly.
  • Organize and prioritize work assignments, adjusting as necessary to meet deadlines and operational needs.
  • Maintain accountability for specific program areas, developing and documenting internal processes and controls.
  • Engage in developmental tasks when positioned below full performance level.
Employment Conditions:

  • Must be registered with Selective Service (for males born after a certain date).
  • Must be suitable for federal employment.
  • Must have completed a minimum period of service in a competitive appointment.
  • Security clearance may be required due to the nature of the position.
Qualifications:

Applicants must have relevant specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level for GS-07 positions or GS-07 level for GS-08 positions. Experience should include:
  • Managing financial ledgers and transactions.
  • Preparing financial reports and conducting account reconciliations.
  • Utilizing various accounting and financial systems effectively.
Education:

Education may substitute for experience under specific conditions, with graduate-level coursework being applicable for GS-07 and GS-08 levels.

  • A probationary period may be required for new hires.
