Nurse Specialist

The Patient Navigator-Registered Nurse (RN) is a skilled oncology nurse responsible for providing high-quality patient care to individuals with suspected or confirmed malignancies or hematologic disorders in the outpatient Cancer Center.
This role requires the ability to apply the nursing process to provide age-specific and developmentally appropriate care, while utilizing discretion and independent judgment to coordinate the continuum of care from referral through treatment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in oncology nursing, with a focus on case management and coordination of care. Proactive management of daily clinic activities is essential to ensure efficiency and timely patient visits.

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (in progress acceptable)
- Minimum one year of nursing experience required
- Minimum one year of oncology nursing preferred
- One year case management or transitional care management experience preferred
- Proficient competencies in clinical oncology/hematology nursing
- Ability to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in oncology/hematology treatment modalities
- Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation
- Speak, read, and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality
- Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position
- Troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment
- Perform technical patient care activities
- Be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care
- Hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone
- See adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position
